Screen time nearly doubles risk of depression, anxiety in youth
Children and young adults with compulsive phone, social media and gaming habits face nearly double the risk of depression, anxiety and loneliness, new research has found. The study also linked such use to higher chances of self-harm, behavioural problems and poor sleep. It covers more than 9 million people under 25.
