SEBI approves open-market share buybacks, eases borrowing rules for MFs

SEBI on Friday approved the reintroduction of open-market share buybacks through stock exchanges. Additionally, the appointment of a merchant banker for undertaking buybacks has been made optional. The regulator also eased intraday borrowing rules for mutual funds, allowing asset management companies (AMCs) to use short-term bank borrowings for cash management requirements.
