Section 62 BNS punishes attempt to rape: Advocate Deepak Somani

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, does not prescribe a separate punishment specifically for attempted rape. Where no specific provision applies, Section 62 may be invoked to punish the attempt with up to half of the longest imprisonment term prescribed for the completed offence, or the applicable fine, or both, said Advocate Deepak Somani.
