Senators ask Putin to sanction Poland over anti-monument law

Russian lawmakers have urged President Vladimir Putin to sanction Poland over a bill ordering the demolition of Soviet monuments. The legislation is part of Poland's 'de-communisation' law and states monuments "cannot pay tribute to persons, organisations, events symbolising communism or totalitarian systems". Notably, over 6 lakh Soviet soldiers died liberating Poland from the Nazis during WWII.
