Senegal signs law doubling penalty for same-sex relations to up to 10 yrs in jail
Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has signed a bill doubling the maximum penalty for same-sex relations, making them punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The new law also penalises anyone who accuses another of same-sex offences "without proof". Notably, dozens of men, including two local celebrities, have been arrested under the anti-LGBTQ laws since February.
