Sensex rose 78 points to 73,658 and Nifty gained 16 points to 23,078 in early trade, led by buying in ICICI Bank, L&T, M&M, SBI and Axis Bank. Gains were capped by weakness in Infosys, TCS and Tech Mahindra. Nifty Metal rose 0.8%, while IT and FMCG stocks faced selling pressure.
