Sensex bleeds 2,400 points after Budget 2026 presentation

After the Union Budget 2026 was announced, the Sensex bled nearly 2,400 points with NIFTY falling around 750 points. While presenting the Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that Securities Transaction Tax (STT) on Futures contracts will be increased to 0.05% from 0.02%. Meanwhile, STT on Options will be raised to 0.15%.
