Sensex crosses 61,000 for 1st time, Nifty hits fresh record high above 18,200

Indian benchmark indices scaled to fresh all-time highs on Thursday with the Sensex crossing the 61,000-mark for the first time ever. Sensex opened over 350 points higher at 61,089, while the broader Nifty 50 jumped more than 100 points to open at 18,273. Wipro and Infosys were among top index gainers following their September quarter earnings announcements.
