Sensex rises 419 points, Nifty up by 133 after last week’s slump

The BSE Sensex index gained 419 points to touch 74,983.29 on Monday, while the Nifty 50 gained 133 points to reach 23,284.65. Both indices opened marginally lower from their previous sessions' close, before recovering into the green within the first half-hour of trade. The rebound comes after Indian equity markets logged their sharpest weekly decline in several years last week.
