Sensex rises over 1,600 points to hit 78,800, Nifty crosses 23,800

Sensex rose over 1,600 points on Friday, two days after it broke a four-session losing streak. The benchmark index rose nearly 1,660 points, or 2.15%, to hit the day's high of 78,815.36 while Nifty rose over 500 points to hit the day's high of 23,853.75. The top Sensex gainers included SBI, JSW Steel, Ultratech Cement, Bajaj Finance and Titan.
