A study, authored by Barna Páll-Gergely, Vukašin Gojšina, and Dr NA Aravind (ATREE) discovered seven new land snail species on Mizoram's Blue Mountain. These snails, part of the Alycaeinae group, possess unique "breathing pipes" or sutural tubes. It identified 109 valid species in the region. This breakthrough is vital for conserving the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot's unexplored moist forests.
