Several whale calves found dead on Argentina's shores; probe launched

Several southern right whale calves have washed ashore dead along Argentina's coast, prompting scientists to probe the unusual mortality. Scientists have detected a naturally occurring marine bacterium in samples but have not established whether it caused the deaths. They are also examining underlying illnesses and environmental conditions that may have made the young whales more vulnerable.
