Sex on false promise of marriage is rape, reiterates Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has reiterated that sex on the pretext of marriage is rape. The judgement came on a case concerning the rape of a woman by a government doctor in Chhattisgarh in 2013. The accused engaged in a physical relationship with the woman on the promise of marrying her and committed the crime while he was engaged to another.
