Seychelles elects Indian-origin Wavel Ramkalawan as new Prez
Indian-origin Wavel Ramkalawan became the first opposition candidate since 1977 to be elected as Seychelles' President, authorities announced. Ramkalawan received 54.9% of the votes while incumbent Danny Faure received 43.5%, the electoral commission said. PM Narendra Modi congratulated Ramkalawan on his "historic" win in the election and said that he looks forward to strengthening bilateral ties.
