Sharjah bans New Year's Eve fireworks in solidarity with Gazans
Sharjah, one of the few Arab states with official ties to Israel, has banned New Year's Eve fireworks this year in solidarity with the people of Gaza. Sharjah police, in a Facebook post, announced the decision, emphasising that legal measures would be taken against violations. The police described the ban as "sincere expression of...humanitarian cooperation with our siblings in...Gaza Strip."
