Sharmila 1st bikini-clad Indian actress on magazine cover

Actress Sharmila Tagore became the first Indian actress to pose for a magazine cover in a bikini, in the August 1966 issue of 'Filmfare' magazine. The actress, who turned 72 on Thursday, made her acting debut with Satyajit Ray's 1959 Bengali film 'Apur Sansar'. She is best known for movies like 'Kashmir Ki Kali' (1964) and 'Aradhana' (1969).
