Chetan Chaudhary, the lover of Ketan Agarwal's fiancée Siya Goyal, told police they had discussed running away together before hatching a plan to kill Ketan. However, Siya didn't want to break off her engagement with Ketan and elope because she feared it would bring shame to her family, said Chetan. The two eventually decided to kill Ketan at Lohagad Fort.
