Shrinking glacier in Italy covered with strips of cloth to prevent it from melting
Climate experts are covering northern Italy's Presena glacier, which has been shrinking, with long strips of cloth to prevent the snow beneath from melting. The process, which has been carried out every year since 2008, takes an entire month to complete. A team unfurls 5-metre-wide and 70-metre-long strips to cover some 1,20,000 square metres of the glacier.
