Sidney Poitier, 1st Black person to win a Best Actor Oscar, passes away aged 94
Sidney Poitier, the first Black winner of Best Actor Oscar for 'Lilies of the Field', died aged 94, an official from the Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday. "We've lost an icon, a hero, a fighter, a national treasure," said Bahamas PM Chester Cooper. Poitier's other films include 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner' and 'To Sir, With Love'.
