Sikh man who died trying to save 8-year-old girl awarded in US

A Sikh man who died trying to rescue an eight-year-old girl by jumping into US river despite not knowing how to swim was awarded North America's highest honour for civilian heroism, Carnegie Hero Award. Manjit Singh had unwrapped his turban to use it as a lifeline while entering the water. The girl was carried downstream by the river's current.
