Sikkim, first state with 100% sanitation coverage

In a country ranked poorly on the health and environment front, Sikkim has become India's first state with 100% sanitation coverage for both urban and rural areas, according to a report of the drinking water and sanitation ministry. Surpassing the target of 87,014, the northeastern state (India’s least populated state) has constructed 98,043 household latrines under its total sanitation campaign.
