Sikkim installs sensors to monitor 16 glacial lakes after Nepal flash flood

Sikkim has installed sensors, automated weather stations and early warning systems to monitor 16 highly vulnerable glacial lakes, State Relief Commissioner Rinzing Chewang said. "We are continuously monitoring the lakes...to find out whether the volume of the glacial lake is increasing," he added. This comes after a glacial collapse caused flash floods in Nepal killing more than 1,000 people.
