Sikkim village bars entry to visitors carrying plastic bottles

Sikkim's Lachen village does not allow entry of visitors' vehicles carrying plastic water bottles. The move aims to protect Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world, for which Lachen serves as the gateway. Use of plastic is banned in the region and bamboo bottles are promoted by the local administrative institution as well as village people.
