Silicon Valley startups build open AI to counter China: Report

Silicon Valley startups are developing open-weight AI models to challenge China's lead in affordable, high-performance AI, NewsBytes reported. Companies including Arcee AI, Reflection AI and Poolside allow users to download, modify and build on their models. Arcee AI said it trained its Trinity Large model in 33 days for $20 million, positioning it as a lower-cost alternative.
