Singapore carries out fifth execution since March

Singapore on Friday hanged a convicted drug trafficker, the fifth execution in the city-state since March. Nazeri bin Lajim was convicted in 2017 of possessing over 33 grams of heroin "for the purpose of trafficking". The list of those executed since March includes two Indian-origin men. Amnesty International has called on Singapore to "stop this relentless wave of hangings".
