Singapore to stop printing S$1,000 banknotes from 2021

Singapore will stop printing S$1,000 banknotes from January 1 next year, to curb the risk of them being used for money laundering and to finance terrorism, its central bank said on Tuesday. Existing notes will remain legal tender and banks can continue to re-circulate them. A limited quantity of S$1000 notes will be issued each month from now till end-December.
