Single mother’s child entitled to her name, caste in school: Bombay HC

A child raised by a single mother is entitled to carry their mother’s name and caste in school records, the Bombay High Court has ruled. The court stated that a child raised exclusively by their mother cannot be compelled to carry their father's name and surname because the format once demanded it. "It's not an act of charity," it added.
