Sinicisation of Islam is inevitable in Xinjiang: Chinese official

Top Chinese official Ma Xingrui from the Xinjiang province has said that the "Sinicisation of Islam" in the province is "inevitable". Xingrui's remarks come as China has been accused of human rights abuses in the region, where around 10 million Uyghur Muslims reside. Notably, 'Sinicisation' refers to the act or process of making something more Chinese in character.
