SIPRI flags India-Pak's first cyber-backed conflict

The SIPRI Yearbook 2026 has identified the May 2025 India-Pakistan military confrontation as the first known conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbours to include cyber operations alongside conventional warfare. The report warns that integrating cyber capabilities into armed conflicts raises escalation risks and miscalculation concerns, especially in South Asia.
