Sir Garry Sobers was once engaged to Indian actress Anju Mahendru

West Indies cricket legend Sir Garry Sobers, who passed away aged 89 on Friday, was briefly engaged to Indian actress Anju Mahendru after meeting her during his team's 1966-67 tour of India. Mahendru later revealed she called Sobers from actor Rajesh Khanna's home and ended their engagement after reconciling with Khanna in 1967.
