Sikkim's Himalayan Zoological Park has recorded six red panda births in a year, the highest since it began its captive breeding programme in 1996. The red panda population has reached 13. The pandas had been kept away from public attention and under constant observation of veterinarians and zoo staff for the first two months, which are particularly critical for survival.
