Skier Vonn says surgery saved her leg from amputation after Olympic crash
American skier Lindsey Vonn said surgery saved her left leg from amputation after a downhill crash at the Winter Olympics caused a complex tibia fracture and compartment syndrome. The syndrome causes high blood pressure that could restrict blood flow and cause permanent injury but doctors performed fasciotomy to relieve pressure. Vonn stated she has "no regrets" about comeback after retirement.
