Former India football team captain Bhaichung Bhutia criticised AIFF's decision to withdraw from FIFA ASEAN Cup to prioritise international friendly against Brazil, reportedly costing ₹50-70 crore. Calling it a "bad, bad" and poorly timed decision amid closure of ISL clubs, he stated, "You have a federation struggling with money...and...AIFF wants to pay an advance fee to Brazil from that amount."
