The first loaf of commercially sliced bread was sold on July 7, 1928, and was made by the Chillicothe Baking Company of Chillicothe, Missouri in the United States of America. The company used an automatic bread-slicing machine invented by Otto Frederick Rohwedder to sell the pre-cut bread.
