Small cut can lead to leg amputation in diabetes: Dr V Mohan
On the podcast, Dr V Mohan, a diabetology expert, explained why small wounds can become serious in people with diabetes. High blood sugar can promote bacterial growth, nerve damage may reduce sensation, and poor blood flow can delay healing, he said. Untreated wounds may progress to gangrene and require amputation. He said ischaemia, or reduced blood supply, is the biggest risk factor.
