Snapchat-parent acquires AR startup Illumix to make smart glasses

Snap, the parent firm of Snapchat, acquired augmented reality (AR) startup Illumix to deepen its presence in spatial computing and wearable technology. Snap will integrate Illumix's mapping and AR capabilities into its product ecosystem, particularly its smart glasses initiative, Specs, as per Variety's report. Snap will also retain most of Illumix’s staff, the report said.
