Snowman-shaped asteroid seen flying past Earth, NASA shares pics

NASA captured images of 2024 ON, a snowman-shaped asteroid made of two space rocks, which merged due to gravitational forces, flying past Earth. The massive, 300-metre-wide asteroid passed at distance of one million kilometres. Researchers identified it as "contact binary", with two rounded lobes separated by a "pronounced neck" in which one lobe is about 50% larger than the other.
