SoftBank secures $40 billion loan to raise OpenAI investment

Japanese investment firm SoftBank Group said it has secured a $40 billion bridge loan to boost investments into OpenAI and for general corporate purposes. The investor previously agreed to invest $30 billion into OpenAI through its fund. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son and US President Donald Trump, in December 2024, announced a $100 billion investment in the US by the firm.
