Sony Chairman and former CEO Hirai to retire after 35 years

Sony Chairman and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kazuo Hirai will retire on June 18 after spending 35 years at the company, the Japanese multinational conglomerate announced. Hirai was appointed CEO and President of Sony in 2012, shortly after it lost $6.4 billion in 2011. He stepped down as the company CEO and became the Chairman in 2018.
