Sony had said 2 black actors don't sell overseas: Michael on 'Bad Boys'

Filmmaker Michael Bay said Sony Pictures Studios had no faith in his 1995 film 'Bad Boys' starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. "Sony didn't believe in the movie because [they said] two black actors don't sell overseas," Michael stated. The film earned $141 million worldwide. The second and third instalments of the film were released in 2003 and 2020, respectively.
