Sony introduces age checks for PlayStation users in UK and Ireland

Sony is introducing age verification for PlayStation users in the UK and Ireland to comply with UK's Online Safety Act. Users who do not verify their age may lose access to communication features, including voice and text chat, messaging, third-party tools such as Discord and streaming to YouTube. Age verification is currently optional, but will become mandatory from June 2026.
