South Africa ends COVID-19 state of disaster, lifts restrictions

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday said the country will end its national state of disaster introduced in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic at midnight and lift most of its restrictions. "While the pandemic is not over, while the virus remains amongst us, these conditions no longer require we remain in a national state of disaster," he said.
