South Africa proposes 20% tax on online gambling profits

South African government has proposed a national 20% tax on online gambling profits amid estimates of two-thirds of adults engaging in online gambling, as per industry regulator National Gambling Board. The final tax proposal is to be introduced in February 2027, Reuters reported, citing National Treasury. The government also said move would more than double the revenues from the sector.
