Southampton expelled from EFL Championship playoffs final over spygate scandal

Southampton have been eliminated from ​the EFL Championship playoff final after being found guilty of spying on semi-final opponents Middlesbrough. Southampton admitted to the charge of illegally spying on an opponent within 72 hours of a scheduled match and filming training sessions involving Oxford United and Ipswich Town. Southampton have also been handed a four-point deduction for next season.
