Sovereign gold bond investors get 347% return on August 2019 issue

RBI has announced the premature redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bonds 2019-20 Series-III, issued on August 14, 2019. The redemption price has been set at ₹15,641 per unit of SGB, yielding an absolute return of 347% over the issue price of ₹3,499 per gram. Investors who bought the bonds online received a ₹50-per-gram discount, lowering their issue price to ₹3,449.
