SP, BSP announce alliance for polls, to contest 38 seats each in UP

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday announced that their parties will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in an alliance. The parties will contest on 38 seats each in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati said two seats were left for "allies", while Raebareli and Amethi constituencies have been excluded from the alliance.
