Spain announces ₹11,000 cr investment for largest optical telescope

Spain announced an investment of €1 billion (over ₹11,000 crore) in partnership with European Investment Bank for the world’s largest optical telescope. The investment comes amid plans for the construction of the Thirty Metre Telescope (TMT) to be shifted from Hawaii to Spain's La Palma. Earlier, India committed to providing 84 segments required for the telescope's large primary mirror.
