Sperm cooperation, not competition, aids fertilisation in arthropods: Study

A study suggested that sperm cooperation, rather than competition, drives fertilisation success across arthropods. It found sperm often work together in groups, a behaviour called "sperm conjugation", which improves their chances of fertilising eggs. Sperm cooperation has emerged, disappeared and re-emerged multiple times over millions of years. The study may influence future fertility research.
