SpiceJet misled flyers through 3 'dark patterns', finds consumer watchdog

The Central Consumer Protection Authority has fined SpiceJet ₹1 lakh for misleading customers through "dark patterns". The consumer watchdog said the airline automatically enrolled users on its loyalty programme through a pre-ticked checkbox. The airline also presented its preferred option as the default choice to influence consumer decisions and used trick questions to manipulate user consent.
