SpiceJet ordered to pay ₹74 crore to engine lessor over unpaid rent

A UK court has ordered SpiceJet to pay around $8 million (₹74 crore) to aircraft engine lessor Sunbird France 02 SAS over unpaid rent and maintenance charges for three engines. The court said the airline had no viable defence against the lessor's application. SpiceJet remains under financial strain following the Boeing 737 MAX grounding and the COVID-19 pandemic.
